Worked on the formulaslug/fs-3 repository to enhance battery management system monitoring and CAN communication using C++ and embedded systems expertise. Developed a dedicated BMS monitoring thread to track cell voltages and temperatures, and refactored the CAN layer to support new transmit functions and improved initialization for both driving and charging modes. Expanded CAN data handling to include additional segments for temperature and voltage, and introduced a writeCAN function for outgoing messages. Addressed a critical bug by standardizing state-of-charge calculations to millivolts and milliampere-hours, refactoring lookup and interpolation logic to improve accuracy and reliability of battery state estimations.
2025-05 Monthly Summary: Focused on reliability and accuracy of battery state-of-charge calculations in formulaslug/fs-3. No new features released this month; a critical bug fix standardized unit handling to millivolts (mV) and milliampere-hours (mAh), refactored the lookup table and interpolation logic, and adjusted current calculations to align with the new units. This improved SOC estimation accuracy and reliability for downstream systems, reducing drift and enabling more confident battery management.
