Worked on enhancing HL7 PD1 segment mapping within the CDCgov/prime-reportstream repository, focusing on improved patient-primary-provider support and interoperability. Developed bidirectional data mapping between FHIR and HL7 standards, specifically implementing mappings for PD1.4 to Practitioner references and supporting both organization and practitioner attribution based on PD1.3 and PD1.4 data. Refactored the generalPractitioner mapping logic to increase flexibility and ensure accurate provider attribution. Utilized YAML for configuration and data transformation, applying skills in FHIR, HL7, and data mapping. The work addressed interoperability challenges by enabling consistent patient-provider relationships across healthcare data exchange formats. No bugs were reported.
