
Huayu Zong developed and integrated System Companion Processor (SCP) firmware for the MediaTek MT8189 platform within the NVIDIA/linux-firmware repository. Leveraging expertise in firmware development and binary languages, Huayu implemented version 1.0.0 of the MT8189 SCP firmware to enable hardware-accelerated video encoding and decoding through a RISC-V SCP. This work established a robust firmware packaging and loading path, allowing the offload of media processing from the main CPU to the SCP. The integration improved power efficiency and responsiveness for MT8189-based devices, providing a technical foundation for future SCP-based features and enhancing the repository’s support for advanced media workloads.
