Developed the GoogleMapsGroundingTool within the Shubhamsaboo/adk-python repository to enable Gemini model queries to be grounded with Google Maps data. This feature was implemented in Python and focused on robust API integration and model grounding, ensuring compatibility with the VertexAI Gemini API. The approach included explicit error handling for unsupported models and versions, as well as internal tool gating to maintain stability and controlled access for future deployments. The work prepared the codebase for upcoming tooling improvements, emphasizing maintainability and reliability. No bugs were fixed during this period, with efforts concentrated on delivering this core feature and its supporting safeguards.
