Worked on the openhab/openhab-distro repository to address breaking changes in the Automower Binding following a WebSocket API update. Refactored the binding to support modular Things and implemented auto-discovery of data points, reducing manual configuration and streamlining device onboarding. Used Shell scripting and focused on documentation and release management to ensure a smooth migration for users, including detailed release notes and migration guidance. The work preserved user configurations and maintained upgrade stability, aligning with the goal of predictable upgrades. This approach enabled scalable integration, easier extension, and provided a clearer upgrade path for users managing Automower devices within openHAB.
