During June 2025, LJX developed namespace-aware PID and TID functionality for the bpftrace/bpftrace repository, enabling users to specify either the init or current PID namespace when using pid and tid functions. This work involved extending the system programming logic in C and C++ to support namespace selection, updating documentation to clarify usage, and adding comprehensive tests to validate behavior across different namespace scenarios. By enhancing test coverage and documentation, LJX improved the reliability and onboarding experience for developers working with BPF and system-level tracing. The feature addressed cross-namespace process identification, deepening the tool’s flexibility without introducing regressions or instability.
