Fatai Salami developed MOTO (Mail Order/Telephone Order) payment support across two Shopify repositories, Shopify/cli and Shopify/extensions-templates, during December 2024. He introduced a supports_moto flag to the credit card payments extension schema, ensuring accurate handling during configuration deployment and parsing. Using TypeScript and Liquid, Fatai updated API versions and activated MOTO functionality within extension configurations, enhancing payment gateway integration and schema definition. His work improved deployment reliability and reduced misconfiguration risks, enabling merchants to process MOTO transactions. This engineering effort expanded Shopify’s payment processing capabilities, supporting merchants who handle phone orders and laying the foundation for broader MOTO adoption.
