Worked on the rapid7/metasploit-framework repository to deliver cross-platform compatibility for FileStat parsing, specifically addressing issues encountered on non-GNU systems. The approach involved enhancing the backend Ruby code to handle unexpected outputs from the stat command, thereby reducing the risk of runtime failures. Refactoring efforts focused on improving the readability and maintainability of the FileStat parsing module, ensuring that future updates could be implemented more efficiently. This work leveraged Ruby and Ruby on Rails, emphasizing robust backend development practices. The result was a more reliable and adaptable FileStat feature, tailored to support a broader range of operating system environments.
