Worked on the apache/maven-surefire repository to enhance the stability and reliability of test execution by reverting a recent refactor in process management. Using Java and software development best practices, restored the established internal process management and output parsing approach, which had previously ensured consistent cross-platform behavior. This change addressed a bug that introduced flaky test execution, reducing the risk of regressions and maintaining compatibility with existing continuous integration pipelines. The work involved careful documentation of the revert and preserved interfaces, minimizing downstream impact and maintenance overhead. Focus remained on robust testing and maintaining reliability across diverse development and testing environments.
