Worked on the PowerDNS/pdns repository to address a critical compatibility issue affecting Prometheus metric scraping. Focused on DevOps and system administration, the developer identified and resolved failures caused by Prometheus v3’s stricter Content-Type validation. By updating the Content-Type header to include the required version parameter, they ensured reliable metric collection and improved observability across pdns services. The solution involved a targeted code change, implemented in C++ and documented in RST, which maintained backward compatibility while aligning with new Prometheus standards. This work enhanced monitoring reliability for environments dependent on Prometheus v3, demonstrating careful protocol compliance and cross-service consistency.
