Worked on enhancing localization for the KotatsuApp/Kotatsu repository by delivering Kazakh language support, focusing on translating UI strings and implementing accurate pluralization to ensure grammatical correctness. Leveraged XML for defining language resources and utilized Weblate to manage and source translations, establishing a scalable workflow for ongoing localization efforts. The approach included integrating localization frameworks and language-specific pluralization logic, with all changes undergoing QA validation before merging. This work expanded accessibility for Kazakh-speaking users, improved onboarding, and reduced future maintenance by centralizing translation management, demonstrating skills in Android development, localization, and translation within a collaborative, quality-focused development process.
