Worked on enhancing observability for MongoDB metrics by integrating OpenTelemetry within the newrelic/entity-definitions repository. Focused on data modeling and standardized metric tagging, the work established a unified approach to identifying and synthesizing MongoDB instance metrics across platforms. Using YAML and leveraging skills in observability and MongoDB, the developer mapped golden metrics to ensure consistent data representation between New Relic and OpenTelemetry. This effort improved monitoring fidelity and enabled more reliable dashboards and alerting by standardizing how metrics are tagged and identified, laying the foundation for cross-platform consistency in metric data without introducing any bug fixes during the period.
