During December 2025, Stell contributed to the VictoriaMetrics/helm-charts repository by developing governance-enabled access controls for the Gateway API within Kubernetes environments. Stell implemented RBAC-driven permissions for HTTPRoutes and their finalizers, allowing for more secure and manageable gateway routing. This work aligned gateway API access with Kubernetes RBAC roles, reducing the need for manual configuration and minimizing the risk of misconfiguration. The feature was delivered using YAML and focused on API management and RBAC best practices. Stell’s contribution addressed the need for fine-grained access control in Kubernetes networking, demonstrating a focused approach to security and operational efficiency within the project.
