Worked on observability enhancements for the NousResearch/hermes-agent repository, focusing on improving developer productivity and debugging efficiency. Developed a configurable gateway logging system in Python, introducing -v and -q command-line flags to control logging verbosity and wiring these outputs to stderr. This approach ensured that startup failures and connection errors are immediately visible in the terminal, streamlining troubleshooting for operators. Updated logging configurations across multiple modules to support various log levels, providing finer-grained control over runtime output. Leveraged skills in CLI development, logging, and system administration to deliver a feature that reduces mean time to recovery and enhances operational transparency.
