Worked on the apache/nifi repository to deliver a foundational system upgrade focused on event-driven architecture. Replaced the deprecated Netty NioEventLoopGroup with MultiThreadIoEventLoopGroup across NiFi components, aligning the codebase with newer Netty APIs and ensuring compatibility with recent library versions. This change improved event loop management and laid the groundwork for enhanced performance and scalability in I/O-intensive workloads. The update addressed technical debt by removing deprecated API usage from critical paths, reducing future maintenance risks. The work was implemented using Java, leveraging expertise in Netty, NIO, and event loop management to support ongoing modernization of the NiFi platform.
