Worked on the open-webui/open-webui repository to address a stability issue affecting tool metadata, specifically focusing on user experience improvements. Using Python and backend development skills, implemented a valve presence tracking mechanism by introducing a boolean attribute to tool metadata. This change ensured that user valves no longer disappeared from the interface, resolving inconsistencies in the UI. The solution involved updating both the retrieval and creation flows for tool metadata, allowing for reliable identification and persistence of valve presence information. The work centered on API development and targeted a single bug fix, contributing to a more stable and predictable user experience.
