Worked on stabilizing the job submission workflow for the apple/axlearn repository by focusing on backend development and robust error handling. Addressed a critical issue by implementing job submission validation and duplicate prevention, ensuring that each job name is unique and that duplicate submissions are effectively blocked. Enhanced the workflow with explicit error handling in Python, allowing failures in job submissions to be surfaced clearly and promptly. Emphasized unit testing to verify the reliability of these changes, which improved the overall dependability of job processing and resource planning. The work prioritized maintainability and clarity in backend processes without introducing new features.
