Worked on the electricitymaps-contrib repository to deliver a major enhancement to the US-MIDA-PJM data parser, focusing on improving data integrity and maintainability. Refactored the parser to adopt an event-driven approach using event classes, which streamlined data handling and improved the robustness of ingestion pipelines. Standardized all timestamps to UTC and updated timezone configuration to better align with production data streams, addressing challenges in timezone handling and data consistency. Leveraged Python and YAML for API integration, configuration management, and data parsing, laying the groundwork for future enhancements while ensuring more reliable retrieval of production, consumption, and price datasets for analytics.
February 2025 — Monthly summary for electricitymaps-contrib focused on delivering a major feature enhancement and improving data robustness. The US-MIDA-PJM Data Parser was enhanced to use event classes for cleaner data handling, with timestamps standardized to UTC and timezone configuration updated to reflect production needs. These changes strengthen data integrity across production, consumption, and price datasets and improve data retrieval robustness for analytics and grid insights.
