Worked on the trinodb/trino repository to enhance CI reliability and performance by addressing npm behavior in continuous integration scripts. Focused on improving reproducibility and reducing build flakiness, the work involved moving npm retry settings into the .npmrc file to ensure consistent retry logic across all npm processes, including nested commands. Introduced npm package caching in CI, leveraging cache keys based on operating system, Node version, and package-lock.json hashes to accelerate installations and minimize network errors. Applied these improvements across related projects using JavaScript, YAML, and GitHub Actions, resulting in faster feedback loops and more stable, reproducible CI environments for developers.
