During their work on the LabNConsulting/frr repository, Kauppi focused on improving OSPF protocol reliability by addressing a critical bug in the handling of the DO_NOT_AGE flag during LSA aging. Using C and leveraging expertise in network programming and protocol development, Kauppi identified and resolved issues related to incorrect flag preservation and network byte order during LSA age increments. The targeted patch ensured that the DO_NOT_AGE flag is maintained correctly throughout LSA operations, preventing routing instability for networks dependent on this behavior. This contribution demonstrated careful analysis of protocol semantics and attention to detail in maintaining OSPF specification compliance.
