Worked on the conan-io/conan-center-index repository to address a critical maintenance issue affecting GTSAM’s nested dissection compatibility. Focused on refining dependency management, the developer implemented a conditional check so that the METIS requirement is enforced only when nested dissection is enabled. This approach, using CMake and Python, reduced unnecessary dependency handling and improved build stability across different configurations. By ensuring that users who disable nested dissection no longer encounter avoidable build failures, the update stabilized package metadata for downstream consumers and enhanced cross-configuration compatibility, reflecting a careful and targeted approach to dependency and configuration management within the project.
