Worked on stabilizing hardware integration for the bkeepers/signalk-server project, focusing on the Seatalk1 GPIO module. Addressed a critical issue where the default GPIO pin value caused breakage if not explicitly set, updating the default from 20 to 4 to ensure reliable operation without custom configuration. Enhanced the command line interface by improving error handling and ensuring proper integer conversion for user inputs, reducing runtime failures during hardware interaction. Utilized Python and JavaScript to implement and document these changes, applying skills in embedded systems and CLI development to increase module reliability and maintainability across diverse deployment environments.
