During the month, contributed to the grafana/opentelemetry-operator repository by delivering Node.js autoinstrumentation support for exporting traces over HTTP using the OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_PROTOCOL environment variable. This feature allows users to select between http/json, http/protobuf, and the default gRPC protocols for OTLP trace export, broadening compatibility with various observability backends. The implementation focused on environment-driven configuration and enhanced the tracing and export pipeline for Node.js applications. Work was completed using TypeScript and YAML, leveraging skills in HTTP, OpenTelemetry, and gRPC. No major bugs were addressed during this period, with efforts concentrated on expanding feature support and integration flexibility.
