During February 2026, Smithy focused on enhancing the smithy-lang/smithy repository by upgrading the Smithy Gradle Plugin to its latest compatible version. This work centered on build automation and workflow stabilization, leveraging Gradle and Groovy to ensure seamless integration with current tooling. By addressing compatibility risks and improving the reliability of the continuous integration process, Smithy enabled faster onboarding of new features and reduced maintenance overhead for future Gradle changes. Although no major bugs were fixed during this period, the depth of the upgrade provided tangible business value by minimizing disruption and supporting a more robust development pipeline.
