During November 2025, Frij developed HTTP Checksum Trait Support for REST protocols in the smithy-lang/smithy repository, enabling data integrity verification for restXml and restJson1 workflows. Frij designed and implemented the feature using JSON and Smithy, focusing on protocol development and API design to ensure seamless integration with existing REST standards. The work included careful changelog management and version control to document the changes and maintain backward compatibility. By enhancing both documentation and traceability, Frij’s contribution addressed the need for HTTP-based data integrity checks, preparing the feature for production use and broader adoption in client and server REST environments.
