During October 2025, Bertram Akers focused on improving the stability and reliability of the cultuurnet/udb3-frontend repository by addressing a critical bug related to build-time configuration safety. He implemented a targeted fix in JavaScript, leveraging his frontend development and Next.js expertise to guard against undefined values in publicRuntimeConfig during both build and runtime. By introducing optional chaining in the Sentry configuration and Sidebar layout, Bertram ensured that potential errors from undefined configuration properties would no longer impact application behavior. This work, while limited in scope, demonstrated careful attention to runtime safety and contributed to a more robust deployment process.
