During April 2026, contributed to the bazelbuild/rules_rust repository by focusing on stabilizing the Rust toolchain integration within Bazel-based build systems. Addressed a reliability issue by ensuring rust_objcopy was properly included as an input for Rustc actions, which involved symlinking rust_objcopy into the sysroot and updating direct file lists to mirror existing linker handling. This targeted bug fix improved build integrity, particularly in strict sandboxed and remote execution environments, and was validated through smoke testing with Python and Rust on aarch64-apple-darwin. The work enhanced cross-platform reliability by reducing build-time failures related to missing toolchain components.
