In 2024-12, the primary deliverable focused on documentation accuracy for the astropy/astropy CoordinateHelper API. A targeted documentation correction was implemented to clarify that CoordinateHelper.ticklabels returns labels (not ticks), ensuring the docs faithfully reflect the behavior of the API. This work enhances developer understanding, reduces potential user confusion, and supports smoother onboarding and release quality. The change is tracked in the docs/changes workflow and landed with a single bugfix doc update under 17444.bugfix.rst, committed as ea1d17addc1f5c0f3c8c19e145cf7e055a58007a.

Month 2024-11: Focused on API stability and test coverage for CoordinateHelper in astropy/astropy. Delivered a bug fix for CoordinateHelper.ticklabels getter that corrected internal field reference and ensured the correct tick labels are returned, with a changelog entry. Expanded test coverage for CoordinateHelper getters (covering parent axes, transform, unit, and deprecation warnings) and added strategies to exercise public API exposure. Implemented test infrastructure improvements to validate deprecation warnings using subplots and pytest.warns, and tightened test scopes. These changes reduce user confusion, prevent regressions in tick label behavior, and improve long-term API reliability for downstream users. Technologies used include Python, pytest, subplots, deprecation warning handling, and changelog integration.
