Contributed to AVSLab/basilisk by enhancing simulation realism and reliability through advanced wind modeling and improved drag calculations, focusing on atmosphere-relative velocity and integration of new wind modules. Addressed a key bug in reaction wheel output indexing, ensuring accurate mixed-model results and robust unit testing. Modernized the API by updating astronomical constants, deprecating AU2KM in favor of AU, and introducing AU2M, while implementing user-facing deprecation warnings to maintain stability for downstream users. Leveraged C++, Python, and CMake to deliver well-documented, test-driven features, emphasizing maintainability and accuracy in aerospace simulation workflows over a focused two-month development period.
April 2026: Delivered a focused API modernization for AVSLab/basilisk by updating astronomical constants, deprecating AU2KM in favor of AU, and introducing AU2M in meters. Added a user-facing deprecation warning that activates after a cutoff date, paired with tests to ensure visibility and correct messaging. No critical defects reported; maintained stability while reducing future risk. This work improves accuracy, consistency, and readiness for downstream consumers relying on precise astronomical constants.
