During October 2025, Chall expanded localization token coverage in the duckduckgo-locales repository, focusing on Global Chat, AI Interactions, and Page Content UI. They implemented new token structures using Gettext and PO, laying a stronger foundation for internationalization and future multilingual support. Their work automated token import and harmonization across locale files, ensuring consistency and scalability for global user interfaces. By concentrating on token delivery and import automation, Chall enabled faster updates and improved user experience across languages. Although the scope was limited to one feature, the depth of the implementation strengthened the project’s localization infrastructure without introducing new bugs.
