Yifan Chen upgraded the Docker base image for the google-cloud component in the red-hat-data-services/data-science-pipelines repository, moving to Ubuntu 24.04 to ensure compatibility with newer system dependencies and Python versions. This work involved updating Dockerfiles and release notes, focusing on containerization and DevOps best practices to improve deployment reliability and security. Yifan validated the changes through CI/CD pipelines, confirming that the updated environment supports current and future dependency requirements. The project did not involve bug fixes but demonstrated a methodical approach to infrastructure maintenance, emphasizing maintainability and forward compatibility using Dockerfile and Markdown as primary technologies.
