Worked on the red-hat-data-services/data-science-pipelines repository to upgrade the Docker base image for the google-cloud component, moving to Ubuntu 24.04 to ensure compatibility with newer system dependencies and Python versions. This update aimed to improve deployment reliability and security while aligning with the latest Google Cloud tooling requirements. The process involved editing Dockerfiles, validating changes through CI/CD pipelines, and updating Markdown-based release notes to document the upgrade. Focused on containerization and DevOps practices, the work laid the groundwork for future dependency updates and maintained a stable development environment, with no major bugs reported during the period of contribution.
