Worked on enhancing the reliability of vehicle data streaming in the teslamate-org/teslamate repository, focusing on backend development and testing using Elixir. Addressed a bug where the vehicle’s online state could be incorrectly updated during streaming fetch failures by restoring a fallback mechanism for unavailable data. Developed an automated test to ensure this fallback operates correctly, thereby reducing false online or offline state oscillations. This improvement led to more stable vehicle state management, particularly during data outages, and benefited users who depend on accurate live vehicle data. The work emphasized robust API integration and thorough test coverage to maintain system stability.
