During April 2025, Cort Lepp worked on the openrewrite/rewrite-static-analysis repository, focusing on enhancing Java static analysis by addressing a critical bug in the InstanceOfPatternMatch component. Leveraging expertise in Java, code refactoring, and pattern matching, Cort corrected the handling of generic types and variable declarations to better align with Java semantics. This involved refining type-checking logic and ensuring accurate pattern matching for parameterized types and method calls. The update reduced false positives in static analysis, improving the reliability of code intelligence tools.
