During a three-month period, Dawalton enhanced industrial IoT solutions across Azure/iot-operations-sdks and Azure-Samples/explore-iot-operations. He delivered a configurable CLI for the Schema Registry Service, replacing hardcoded MQTT broker settings with argument-driven session creation in Rust, which improved deployment flexibility and testability. In Azure-Samples/explore-iot-operations, Dawalton introduced OpenTelemetry WASM modules and automated CI/CD workflows using Makefile and GitHub Actions, streamlining telemetry data processing and module deployment to GHCR. He also enabled OPC UA integration by updating Makefile and YAML configurations, reducing deployment friction for industrial devices. His work demonstrated depth in configuration management, Rust, and DevOps practices.

September 2025: Delivered a major configurability enhancement for the Schema Registry Service CLI in Azure/iot-operations-sdks. Implemented command-line argument parsing (via clap) to configure the MQTT broker address and port for the schema registry service stub, replacing hardcoded values. Refactored the main entry to construct service sessions using CLI-provided arguments, improving testability and deployment flexibility. No major bugs fixed this period. Overall, this work reduces manual reconfiguration, enhances environment-specific deployments, and strengthens reproducibility in CI/CD workflows. Technologies demonstrated include Rust, clap-based CLI design, argument-driven session creation, and code refactoring for operability.
