Worked on the mendersoftware/mender repository to enhance the reliability of inventory data collection processes. Addressed a bug in the mender-inventory-geo script by limiting wget retries to two, which prevented the script from hanging during geo information retrieval. This adjustment improved the responsiveness of inventory gathering and reduced the risk of stalled data collection, leading to more consistent downstream analytics. The work involved shell scripting and system administration, focusing on robust error handling and process control within shell environments. By refining the script’s behavior, the update ensured smoother operation of inventory updates without introducing new features during the development period.
