During October 2025, DEREFERENC3D developed and integrated support for the Royal Kludge RK61 keyboard into the qmk/qmk_firmware repository. This work involved creating configuration files, defining hardware specifications, and implementing new keymaps and RGB lighting features using C and JSON. By aligning the RK61 integration with QMK’s established patterns and testing workflows, DEREFERENC3D ensured maintainability and simplified future device additions. The update expanded QMK’s hardware compatibility, enabling broader adoption by the Royal Kludge community. The technical depth is reflected in the comprehensive handling of multi-layer support and device-specific requirements, demonstrating strong skills in firmware development and keyboard configuration.
