Worked on the inveniosoftware/invenio-app-rdm repository to enhance IIIF image format handling for metadata extraction. Developed a configuration-driven approach in Python that dynamically derives supported image formats, ensuring all IIIF formats are recognized without manual intervention. By updating configuration management and removing PDF from the IIIF_FORMATS_PIL_MAP, the solution improved reliability and maintainability of metadata extraction processes. This backend development effort focused on future-proofing the system, reducing the need for manual updates as new formats are introduced. The work demonstrated a methodical approach to configuration management, emphasizing maintainable code and robust handling of evolving image format requirements within the repository.
