Worked on the gradle/gradle repository to enhance build reliability by implementing automatic retries for Gradle Wrapper downloads, addressing a common source of CI instability. Leveraged Java and Groovy to introduce a robust retry mechanism with updated defaults and comprehensive unit tests, ensuring smoother contributor onboarding and reducing build flakes. Improved code maintainability by correcting a variable naming typo, which clarified exception handling logic. Focused on backend development and testing, the work stabilized wrapper-related tests and streamlined the retry flow. These contributions collectively resulted in faster, more stable builds and a clearer, more maintainable codebase for the Gradle project.
