During August 2025, Daniel Sanderling focused on enhancing the qmk/qmk_firmware repository by addressing a critical bug affecting the Unicorne RGB LED matrix on boardsource/unicorne keyboards. He identified and resolved a coordinate alignment issue that caused LEDs to map incorrectly within the keyboard matrix, improving both accuracy and user experience. Working primarily in C and leveraging his expertise in embedded systems and firmware development, Daniel validated the fix within the existing matrix computation path and collaborated with maintainers to ensure robust regression protection. He also expanded test coverage, streamlining future debugging and contributing to the reliability of hardware-driven LED features.
