Developed multi-interface outbound support for static multicast routes in the PIM Daemon within the LabNConsulting/frr repository, enabling configuration of multiple outgoing interfaces per static mroute to enhance network scalability and control. The work involved updating the YANG model to represent multi-OIF capabilities, refining configuration processing logic, and implementing an automated test to validate the new functionality. Leveraging expertise in network routing, protocol implementation, and software development, the solution was delivered using C and Python. This feature allows for more granular management of multicast traffic, addressing the need for flexible and scalable routing in complex network environments without introducing regressions.
Month: 2025-10: Delivered multi-interface outbound for static multicast routes in PIM Daemon (FRR). Enabled configuring multiple outgoing interfaces per static mroute, improving network scalability and control. Changes include YANG model updates, adjusted configuration processing, and a new automated test validating multi-OIF functionality. The work is tracked in commit e5fda7bd3fe712f8af08661bf0ee61462b2dbdbd.
