Edmund Miller enhanced test infrastructure and CI workflows for nf-core/sarek and nf-core/methylseq, focusing on reliability and maintainability in bioinformatics pipelines. He developed pipeline testing stubs and scaffolding in Nextflow and Groovy, enabling isolated unit tests for core modules and mock workflow validation without running real tools. For nf-core/methylseq, Edmund delivered AWS Megatests CI enhancements using GitHub Actions and YAML, supporting ARM and GPU environments, secure configuration, and S3-based resource management. His work improved test coverage, accelerated feedback cycles, and established scalable, secure CI practices, demonstrating depth in workflow automation, cloud infrastructure, and software testing within complex pipelines.

July 2025: Delivered targeted CI enhancements for nf-core/methylseq focused on AWS Megatests and AWS test organization, enabling robust ARM/GPU testing, secure configuration via organization variables, early input validation, and scalable resource management via S3 paths. These improvements improve reliability, reduce debugging cycles, and accelerate feedback on methylation-seq workflows.

December 2024 – nf-core/sarek: Focused on strengthening test infrastructure to improve reliability and maintainability of the pipeline. Implemented Pipeline Testing Stubs and Test Scaffolding to enable isolated unit tests for pipeline modules, including CREATE_INTERVALS_BED and GATK4_INTERVALLISTTOBED, plus a stub for gatk4-intervallisttobed and a new test file for the Sentieon pipeline to validate workflow completion and output integrity. These changes reduce test flakiness, enable mock workflows and output checks without executing real tools, and lay the groundwork for faster, safer CI feedback. This work complements ongoing module improvements and supports safer future changes.
