Elliott Battle focused on enhancing the reliability of search functionality in the HHS/simpler-grants-gov repository by developing comprehensive unit tests for the QueryProvider component. Using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, Elliott verified that the component correctly initializes query terms from search parameters and accurately updates related state such as total pages, total results, and local AND/OR parameters. This work expanded frontend test coverage, directly reducing the risk of regressions and supporting faster iteration on search user experience. By aligning tests with tracked issues, Elliott improved traceability and QA readiness, delivering a more robust and maintainable frontend codebase for future development.
