Worked on reliability and user experience improvements across votingworks/vxsuite and AerynOS/recipes over a two-month period. In vxsuite, implemented streak-based unreadable ballot detection and configurable thresholds using Node.js and TypeScript, enhancing ballot interpretation accuracy and poll worker feedback. Improved background job reliability by distinguishing between gracefully interrupted and crashed tasks, integrating Sentry for observability and robust error handling. In AerynOS/recipes, resolved a virt-manager startup crash by adding the python-pygobject dependency, streamlining installation for users on newer builds. Demonstrated strengths in backend development, dependency management, and testing, with a focus on maintainable, config-driven solutions and clear operational impact.
