Developed a targeted parser enhancement for the zeek/zeek repository, focusing on extending DNS message parsing to support DNS NOTIFY messages. This work improved real-time visibility and response capabilities for DNS-based events by enabling the system to track and respond to NOTIFY notifications. The implementation was isolated to the DNS NOTIFY parsing path, minimizing risk and maintaining parser stability. Utilizing C++ and Zeek scripting, the developer emphasized reliability and extensibility, laying the groundwork for future automation and alerting workflows. No customer-facing bugs were addressed during this period, as the primary objective was to enhance DNS protocol analysis and network programming readiness.
