During August 2025, F. MacConnell focused on enhancing deployment security for the bcgov/nr-nmp repository by addressing a vulnerability in the SSO integration. He implemented a change to treat the SSO authentication server URL environment variable as a secret, updating YAML-based deployment configurations to prevent sensitive information from being exposed in logs or non-secret environment variables. Leveraging his skills in CI/CD, DevOps, and security, F. MacConnell’s work aligned the project with best practices for secret management. Although no new features were released, this targeted fix improved the overall security posture and demonstrated a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to infrastructure hardening.
