Matthew Gerlach developed new device tree binding support for the Altera Agilex5 DWC XGMAC Ethernet NIC in the geerlingguy/linux repository. He introduced a compatible string in YAML-based device tree bindings, enabling the Linux kernel to recognize and configure the Synopsys DWC XGMAC IP on Agilex5 SoCs. This work aligned kernel bindings with vendor specifications, reducing integration risk and supporting early NIC bring-up on Agilex5 platforms. Leveraging his expertise in embedded systems, kernel development, and device tree configuration, Matthew delivered a focused feature that improved platform readiness for Ethernet support, demonstrating depth in low-level hardware enablement and system integration.
