Developed an ingredient string conversion enhancement for the mealie-recipes/mealie repository, focusing on improving the normalization and formatting of unparsed ingredient inputs for the NLP parser. The work involved designing a dedicated conversion function using Python utilities to address issues with poorly formatted ingredient strings, resulting in more reliable ingestion and higher data quality throughout the pipeline. Integrated the solution with the existing NLP parser and collaborated through Git-based workflows, including co-authored contributions. Leveraged skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, and front end development to ensure compatibility and maintainability, ultimately supporting smoother downstream processing and reducing data quality issues in the application.
