In January 2026, Ghafek integrated the Star Schema Benchmark (SSB) into the apache/systemds repository to support performance evaluation and benchmarking. He developed a suite of DML queries and Shell runner scripts that automate the benchmarking process, enabling standardized and repeatable performance assessments for SystemDS. His work established a framework that informs both optimization and capacity planning by providing consistent performance data. Throughout the project, Ghafek applied skills in data analysis, data processing, and performance benchmarking, focusing on automation and version control. The depth of the implementation provided a solid foundation for ongoing performance evaluation, though no major bugs were addressed.
