Worked on the google/nearby repository to enhance device connectivity features and diagnostics over a two-month period. Focused on C++ development and Protocol Buffers, expanding the OperationResultCode enums and updating proto definitions to improve error reporting and future-proof the Nearby Connections API. Delivered a forward-compatible change set that broadened the range of operation codes and enriched the string-name catalog, supporting better observability and diagnostics. Later, introduced an optional wifi_direct_device_name field in ConnectionResponseFrame, updating offline_wire_formats.proto and internal handling to enable Wi-Fi Direct device identification, thereby improving connection reliability and robustness in multi-device environments using protobuf and API design.
