During February 2026, Gabriel Torres developed Rocky Linux support for the Azure/azhpc-images repository, enabling the HPC image builder to provision Rocky Linux 8.10 and 9.6 images for Azure’s high-performance computing workloads. He approached this by extending existing bash-based scripts and leveraging his expertise in DevOps and Linux administration to ensure compatibility with RHEL-based distributions. This work addressed the need for broader enterprise provisioning options on Azure HPC, allowing organizations to deploy Rocky Linux alongside other supported platforms. The implementation, delivered as a co-authored pull request, demonstrated a focused, cross-distro engineering effort with depth in scripting and system integration.
